The city engineer shall:

A. Designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections where, in the opinion of the city council, there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway, and at such other places as the city council may deem necessary;

B. Establish safety zones of such kind and character and at such places as the city council may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians. (Ord. 5212 § 1 (Exh. E), 1999; 1957 code § 9.04.140.)
