A. An assigned street name may be changed by action of the city council upon petition for such change by no less than 60 percent of the property owners within the area proposed for a change, by petition by an outside service agency such as the U.S. Postal Service, or by petition of any city department.

B. Prior to acting on any proposal to change a street name, the city council shall conduct at least one public hearing.

C. Mailed notice of the public hearing shall be provided to all potentially affected property owners, utility providers, the U.S. Postal Service, and any other appropriate outside service agencies as determined by the building official, at least 10 calendar days prior to the public hearing. Legal notice shall also be advertised in a newspaper of general circulation at least 10 calendar days prior to the public hearing.

D. The building official is authorized to develop procedures for the filing and processing of such petitions. (Ord. 6038 § 1, 2006; Ord. 5998 § 1, 2006.)
