Sanitary sewer customers that discharge amounts of sand and/or grit that damage, affect the hydraulic efficiency of, or increase maintenance requirements of the public sanitary sewer system shall be required, upon notification from the city, to install a sand and/or grit removal device. Installation shall be completed within six months from notification unless otherwise agreed upon by the city. Continued maintenance of the device shall be the responsibility of the property owner.
