International Property Maintenance Code Section 110.1 is amended to read as follows:

Section 110.1 General. The code official shall order the owner or owner’s authorized agent of any premises upon which is located any structure, which in the code official’s judgment is so deteriorated or dilapidated or has become so out of repair as to be dangerous, unsafe, insanitary or otherwise unfit for human habitation or occupancy, and such that it is unreasonable to repair the structure, to demolish and remove such structure; or if such structure is capable of being made safe by repairs, to repair and make safe and sanitary, or to board up and hold for future repair or to demolish and remove at the owner’s option; or where there has been a cessation of normal construction of any structure for a period of more than two (2) years, the code official shall order the owner or owner’s authorized agent to demolish and remove such structure, or board up until future repair. Unless the code official determines that other measures are appropriate based on the circumstances, boarding the building up for future repair shall comply with appendix A and the structure shall not remain boarded beyond thirty (30) days, except where a non-opaque material is used that provides the same level of security as provided by the requirements of Appendix A, the boarding may remain in place for no more than one year. Timeframe extensions may be approved by the code official.
