Solid waste processing facility” means the management, collection, transportation, temporary storage, treatment, utilization, and processing of solid wastes by means of pyrolysis, refuse-derived fuel, or mass incineration within an enclosed structure. These processes may include source separation and recovery of recyclable materials from solid wastes, the recovery of energy resources from such wastes or the conversion of the energy in such wastes to more useful forms or combinations thereof. This definition refers to citywide or regional scale operations and does not include solid waste handling which is accessory to an individual principal use. (Ord. 6245 § 3, 2009; Ord. 4262 § 1, 1988.
