A. The monthly salary for council members shall be as set by the independent salary commission pursuant to Chapter 2.08 ACC. Additionally, health benefits which are available to unaffiliated city employees will be available to council members; provided, that a majority of council members participate in said health benefits and pay the full cost of such health benefits.

B. In addition to the city council compensation as set by the independent salary commission pursuant to Chapter 2.08 ACC, council members who serve on appointed regional boards, commissions and committees on behalf of the city may receive additional payments for attending meetings of such regional boards, commissions and committees as otherwise set by the independent salary commission pursuant to Chapter 2.08 ACC. For the purposes hereof, the regional boards, commissions and committees shall include those regional boards, commissions and committees to which the council members have been appointed by the mayor whether or not confirmed by the council, or to which the council member has been elected by the membership of the regional board, commission or committee to which the city is a member. It is provided, however, that the meetings for which additional payments would be made do not include meetings of regional boards, commissions or committees for which the council member receives separate compensation from the regional board, commission or committee or its sponsoring entity.

C. The compensation provided for in this section shall be paid on the eighth and twenty-third day of each month succeeding the month in which services are performed, by proper warrants drawn upon the finance director of the city. Should the payday fall on the weekend or holiday, paychecks will be issued on the previous workday.
