Any owner desiring to construct a sidewalk other than by a local improvement district shall first obtain a permit for the work from the building department. The fee for such permit shall be as shown in the city of Auburn fee schedule as adopted by Ordinance 5707, and any amendments thereto. Sidewalks to be constructed under one permit shall be continuous. The permit fee shall cover the cost of staking once and of inspection. The owner shall preserve the grade stakes until the job is completed. If the stakes are lost through neglect on the part of owner or contractor, the contractor will be required to pay the cost of replacement. (Ord. 5817 § 2, 2004; 1957 code § 8.12.060(a).)
