Maps have been developed by the city that show the general location of critical areas. These maps are available for reference at the city department of community development. These maps shall be used for informational purposes as a general guide only for the assistance of property owners and other interested parties; the boundaries and locations shown are generalized. The actual presence or absence, type, extent, boundaries and classification of critical areas on a specific site shall be identified in the field by a qualified consultant and determined by the city, according to the procedures, definitions and criteria established by this chapter. In the event of any conflict between the critical area location or designation shown on the city’s maps and the criteria or standards of this section, the criteria, definition, and standards shall prevail.
